A National Fraternity

A National Fraternity

The second chapter of Zeta Psi was chartered just a year after the Fraternity's founding. Henry S. Hodges and another early Phi Chapter initiate petitioned to start a chapter at Williams College, where they were attending, and Zeta Chapter was founded there on May 11, 1848. A third chapter at Rutgers University (Delta) was granted a charter in early 1849. Zeta Psi was now officially a national organization. Within 50 years of the founding, Zeta Psi had established 31 additional chapters, a remarkable feat given that this was an era before telephones and automobiles.
