Zeta Psi Founding

Three students at the University of the City of New York (now New York University), John Moon Skillman, John Bradt Yates Sommers, and William Henry Dayton, founded Zeta Psi Fraternity on June 1, 1847. They met at the home of Sommers, 82 Madison Street. The first expansion of Zeta Psi occurred at the beginning of the 1947 academic year, when two new members, George S. Woodhull and Henry S. Hodges, were initiated into this first chapter (Phi).
